Beijing is the new Montreal!!! Dance party act Woodhands announced today that they will be bringing their nerd grooves to the billion strong of China for the last weekend in May for a cultural exchange called Transmit China.

The culture convoy is being organized out of Victoria, BC by Tyl Van Toorn from TNT Productions. He is bringing over 49 delegates ranging from managers, agents, labels and bands to show the Chinese what we have to offer musically. Other bands joining Woodhands will be Buck 65, Champion, and You Say Party! We Say Die! (this will be YSP! second trip to China this year and according to bassist Stephen “it’s the best place to play”) The Chinese will also be showing off their musical talent with such bands as: Pet Conspiracy, Casino Demon and Live Journey.

When asked about the event Dan Werb of Woodhands had this to say, “I had to give an official Canadian government invitation letter to the Chinese consulate in Toronto yesterday so that I was allowed to go there…and while I was in line this dude named Victor wrote down the best seafood restaurant in Beijing on my hotel reservation. Problem is that it’s in Chinese so I don’t know what the name of it is or how to pronounce it.”

Lucky for Dan there is no pronunciation involved in the language of body movin’ beats.
